One of the big reasons for our success fishing the Great Lakes and the Florida Keys has been our desire to use the lightest tackle. What started as a competition of who could fish the lightest turned out to be a lesson learned.
Jig Fishing Rods
Built from spinning rod blanks, spinning the guides around the blank (Loomis, St.Croix, Fenwick, Fish Eagle) the line never contacts the blank. We use the lightest guides on the market, Tich single foot Titanium fly rod guides, with titanium rod tips allowing use of the new premium lines offered today (Fire line, Spider wire). In the past 10 to 15 years our lakes have gone thru many changes. One of the biggest changes has been the clear water due to the Zebra muscle explosion. We spend a lot of our year, once the high and dirty waters subside in the spring, fishing 4 pound fluorocarbon leaders. As the waters cool and turn gin clear, we fish 2 pound leaders to get the bites. Our rods will handle these light leaders and still allow you to put the maximum pressure on the fish. Whether it's spinning, bait casting, or fly rods, we can meet all of your fishing needs.
Fly Fishing Rods
Whether it's casting the flats for Silver Kings (Tarpon) or chuck and duckin it on the PM (Pere Marquette ) we can meet your needs. Again, our experience fishing the flats and the streams will allow us to assist you in your choice of rod application.
Note: all rods will be built custom as ordered via verbal contact. To order a custom built fishing rod please email fishingrods@redddawnsportfishing.com or call Mitch at 810-533-0855. |
