Well it has been quite some time since I lasted posted, alot has transpired since then.Lets just start with I became a Wilson Marine full time salesman last June working out of there new Harrison Township office,it has been a real awakining, I have found out how much I didn't know about the art of sales. Anyway's It has put a little restrain on the amount of fishing I was to do for the remainder of the season even though I worked every day that I was off. I was very blessed to have some great fishing during the remainder of the Summer and deep into the fall,I will post some of the pictures from the last season covering the great Perch fishing to spending some great time with our oldest son on the PM.Just in case your wondering with all this great weather we are having you would think with water tempertures in the high 30,s Walleye fishing would be pretty fair, NOT!!! fished yesterday from St. Clair to Cherry Beach never hit a fish , and that has been the report for some time, dont know where there going when the sun is up.Boat Show for the next 4 days It's Ultimate Fishing Show hope to see you out there, for you's that want to get down to Detroit this spring with me I am booking Tuesday's and Sundays so dont wait if you want a shot at a big spring run Eye.
Talk to you soon and remember! KEEPEM VERTICAL

Well I wake up this morning with the sun shinning and the moon bigger than its been in 20 some years, with thoughts of maybe, jigging up a few early walleye's in the deep hole, or breaking in some of my newly built rods for the season on a couple of old dinasours.Fat Chance channel this morning is full of ice but the good news is that is moving and the mouth is wide open so it has some place to go.As of yesterday the boat ramp is now open to launch at end of the street but the water is just a little dirty to fish with water tempertures in the mid to upper 30's those fish are not going to move far to get a bait not to mention you would have to put in a little time due to there slow metabalisim who knows when they decide to feed. Not much to report on the Perch front, my buddy Zepper continues to take his medicine on those Canadian yellowbellies but he is persistant and if any of you have wondered he is RETIRED,hopefully they are doing better this week I should have a report from him today.Steelhead at Yates are starting to show up, talked to a couple of my buddies last week Tom & Scott they were there last Sunday and hooked up three nice fish, spawn under a bobber seemed to be the trick.Planning to get out Tuesday this week depending on water conditions, hope to have some good news to report.

Well 1st of all Happy New Year you all , I am sitting here staring out the window trying to figure out what happend to this epic historical SNOWMAGEDDIN the medioroligist called for.Anyway who needs it just goes to show Michigan is still all all one of the best places to live as far as weather because in recent years we have missed just about everything. Not much to tell so far but getting ready for the upcoming Walleye season building a mess of custom Jig Rods right now and doing some tackle build up with the Detroit River just around the corner and those who fish down river by the steele plants know about tackle loss.Got into some really nice fish in the month of November just before the Deer hunting opener fish stayed aroun for about three weeks but when they left could hardly find a fish, was very disappointed with the late fall fish which was very good last year.I will be posting regulary starting in March or if I hear anything on the Ice fishing front.Just talking to a few fellows I know fishing is fair to poor even up to Simcoe.James and Dave Mackie have been going up to Saginaw Bay for Walleye had one decent trip where James landed 10 nice eyes but that was about it,Because brother Dave again pitched another pefect game no RUNS NO HITS AND NO ERRORS,but at least he's consistent.Iam going to post some pictures in the Lake St. Clair album from last fall so checkem out.

Finally I am getting time to write,we have been extremely busy I have had a lot of good trips and also some that we had to work extremely hard but thats why they call it fishing.Just lost my father recently so that was kinda of set back, want to put a thank you to all that included us in there prayers.Fishing at this time for Walleye is very slow although fish are trickling in due to the warm lake tempertures.Bass fishing has been very good lots of big fish to be caught if you are working tight to to the weed lines,Golden shinners and or spot tails trolled or drifted seems to be the ticket.Lots of spot tails are showing up in the channel should help them walleyes coming out of the lake,Stop by the shop (Mackies Bait and Tackle) we have plenty of spots, Goldens are good but not like those Spotails. If you go to the Gallery page I am posting lots of pics from all the recent trips they will be found in the Lake St. claire gallory.I do want to mention a trip I had the day after my dad had passed It started out very tough for me but the show must go on as my dad would have said,GOD works in such mysterious ways he sent me a trip that had 2 little girls there dad and Uncle,Rick ,Ross,Cloyee and Kylee.Let me start by saying Kylee turned out to one of the best little fisherman or fisherwoman have ya, at her age 13 that I have ever had on the boat. She got her 1st Muskie Jigging and about 2 limits of smallmouth I was very impressed even little Cloyee battled some really nice fish which were almost two strong for her but she got it done.I just want to thank both of those girls for being just what the doctor ordered.A last minute trip I had here Friday Also was very interesting took out a good friend of my brother Scott (AKA Coach Lloyd Carr) Big Mike his Dad,wife Shelly and there two children Mia and Carter.Fishing started out pretty slow, trolled for Walleyes with artificial worms never had a bite but only made one pass an felt the kids were getting a little restless so we set up for smallmouth. Started out by working the Strawberry bar an hit fish right away they were pretty nice a couple in the the 17" class but not exactly what we were looking for.Pulled lines and headed over to Clinton River were I had been running some trips a couple of weeks ago but found water tempertures in the low 80's.Pulled lines again and headed to some weed beeds that I like to fish by the B marker,BINGO that was the ticket we caught some of the biggest Bass on average I have ever seen, fish averaged around 21 to 22 " 4 lbs Plus and man did they pull even big Mike had his hands full and that saying somthing being a former Defesive end for the Purdue Boilermakers. All and all we had a great time and Carter and Mia really fought some battles,I have to apoligize to Shelly for dropping her nice Northern Pike in the canel by accident.Gotta say I really enjoyed talking to Mikes father all day he was sitting right next to me,a very good fisherman by the way and I could see even a better grandfather.

Rain,Rain and more rain, thats todays forecast sorry we havn't posted in a couple of weeks but things have been busy to say the least. We had some very good trips and some trips that we have really had to work hard.It seems that lately the fellas have been doing a little better in the late day or early evening depending where you were, I know the trolling bite has been better late in the day.It looks like the playing feild is leveled again with all this rain wind and dirty water but I think that is a good thing number 1 we needed a little color for those spooky fish and number 2 it will just plain save some fish in the system.Detroit is still going good especially on the Canadian side, the American side is day to day because of the gin clear water and clear sunny skys.Andy Kuffer was out a day ago pulling boards behind Ginos surf and caught some really nice Eyes up to nine pounds and he also hooked three Muskies one maybe over 30 he said.Going to get out maybe tomorrow and huntem down we will keep you posted.(Check out the Gallerys)
P.s Keep Sept in mind we are booking for the drift trips ( Salmon on the fly) Last two weks and the 1st wek of Oct. are prime for the big Chinooks.

Man what a great week started out a little slow in Detoit last Sat.We had Barry,Mike and Ron who went to the Tiger opener on Friday lets just say the slow fishing ,300 boats, clear water in US waters, and after affects of the night made it very tough. We did manage a few fish not a total loss, like I told Barry we will get him back out for another try.Wed again we ventured out to Detroit and again it was a little slow with the clear water on the US side the guys didnt have Canadians so it made it a lttle tougher then it had to be but the fellas were able to stick some real nice fish with one of them going about 7ish.The night before I had talked to Steve and gave him the option to go to the St.Claire River instead because I had found alot of fish there tuesday but they opted for maybe getting a wall hanger.Thursday was the day Had My good friend Steve Nadalski again with his buddy Lantz and a fella they brought 2 years ago Kris which on that friday we boated 47 fish so I was thinking he could be a little disappointed but not to be we dropped the Jigs at about 7:45 am and boated our 30 fish limit by 10:30 am just another great fish.Along the way the guys caught and realeased another 10 or so fish, way to go.Friday took my Garage door man Ken fishing was totally different with an approaching cold front, it took a little time to find out how they wanted it, but figured it out, 4LB leaders, 1/4 oz jigs fished on ultralights was the ticket great job Ken, welcome to the wonderful world of light tackle Jig fishing.Finnally Sat rolled in and so did that nasty cold front,Wouldnt you know I had Ken and Adell and there daughter Mary with her husband Jeff, I have to say with the weather we had to endure Rain, cold, hail ,wind and snow ball showers they really did a great job fishing hard right to the end.everybody got walleyes except mary who had the sucker bite going, but right before we were going to pull lines and head for the car heaters she hooked the nicest Eye of the day a 4 to 5Lb male I knew she was going to do it.
P.S. Check the pics in the gallorys

We have been fishing lower river sections this week with good results. River temp is about 43* with clear water conditions. Using emerald shinners fished natural on jig heads, and plastics fished on jig heads, we are catching limits for everyone on board. Fish are mostly the smaller males with the occasional 5-7 pound female added to the catch. |

Sorry I havn't posted in a couple of days but we have been hitting Detroit pretty hard.Tuesday and Wed.I had out John founder and owner of Dirty Moes Bait & Tackle located up in Algonac near Point Tremble,I got to visit the shop yesterday and I must say I was impressed with some of the selections of plastics,Jigs, and over all Walleye baits in stock, it's sure going to make the river alot easyer to fish when it stars to go.Well Tue we had to start a little late keeping our eyes on the weather, did'nt get in to about 8:30am started fishing at about 9:15.John brought his son Jacob 15 and his nephew Jason 12 he had never really fished that much but caught on very quick,to the tune of a 7lb plus.Took us a little while to find a system but when we did the kids an John went lights out,we took an American limit of 5 fish per released a couple of sows 20 fish total for the day .Wed the kids were beat so they stayed home (to bad) John blessed his insulation coworkers for the day by taking them fishing, wish I would have had a boss like that,we had Bill,Pat, and Kris, who said he had never fished but was another sandbagger because he caught his limit and boated a fish in the 9lb class. It was another day filled with rain an surrounding storms and mini fronts, we fished hard between the them and had another great day boating 25 gorgous fish avg around 5 1/2 to 6 lbs.All our fish came on the Canadian side if you check out the Gallery it's a dead givaway. We also got in to a bunch of really nice Spawning smallmouth in the 3 to4 lb class they absouloutly pounded the rubber,Oh did I say rubber, right now thats the ticket Zooms in the smokey joe color Finess in basically the same silver sides with the dark backs the water is pretty clear right now so those natural colors are the ticket, but with this rain that will all change,we will have to go back to the heavy flake which seemed to work very well last weekend. Stop into the shop and talk to John he has a good handle on the colors considering he was beating on fish for the last 20 hours. Had a great time both days it was a real treat fishing with a bunch of guys and the kids that could flat out (PULL) fish.

Detroit River was on fire this weekend , went out Friday started our 1st drift in American waters below the Belle Isle bridge working in very tight to the bank we yanked out an 8 plus was Walleye Mikes largest fish ever so he says ,I think he was just sand bagging.Made one more drift and headed to Canada (Sturgen Hole)started hooking fish right away, the fish were averaging about 6 1/2 pounds, lots of boats which caused the fish to shut off,we managed 6 nice fish and lost or broke off at least that many.Headed down stream to the fountain and found a nice pod of bigger fish up to about 8 1/2 pounds, we then ventured down to the whisky plant and the casino caught a few fish but by the time we got there PIE,MY NEIGHBOR,MATT , had pounded the fish into submission
which I found out when we got home ,all and all we had a good day landing 19 fish with an avg. of 6 plus LBS and lost at least that many due to a couple of fellows who insist on not sharpening hooks.Sunday fishing was very tough for us and a whole lot others in basically the same stretch should have went another 1/2 mile further south the boys down there were doing another good job on them, managed some really nice eaters left the river a little ticked at myself that I didnt go down further but like I say you never know if your moves were right until you get to the scales, put it this way we wouldnt have been on the board.Got a couple of trips this week lookin to do well.

Lets start by saying "THE ICE IS GONE!" got started yesterday in Detroit fought thru all that fog in the morning but all and all a very good 1st trip.We fished from St. Jeans down to 2 rock discharge, was very surprised we didnt do anything down river with the 43 degree water temps, never saw a fish boated. Our day got off with a bonus right away a 6lb chromer (Steelhead) fishing tight to the eddys behind the bridge pillers (belle Isle),also 5 of our Walleyeys came the same way.Water clarity is a little stained but at least 3 foot visability,if you our venturing out in the next couple of days look for that warmer surface tempertures, it seemed to be the ticket. My son and his partner got out Sunday in all that rain fished down by the Discharge they managed two land 2 fish with the one going 10.08 lbs congratulations to Scott on his biggest fish witch he decided to put on the wall and to Ron for getting him over the Sow.Gonna let things warm up a little going out Friday gonna try to fish Canada water should be clear enough.
